Part of my 2009 Bachelor of Fine Arts degree project at the Rhode Island School of Design: a study of the Asian American culture as a dynamic combination of both East and West, resulting in the birth of an entirely new culture.

Three experimental typefaces created using forms from letters in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean languages. The alphabet letters are formed into words based on the characteristics and forms of the original language's characters.

For example, Chinese characters are often compounds of certain shapes, some that are only used on the left side or top part of a character, etc. The Chinese-English version of the alphabet follows the same concept and has alternate versions of certain letters depending on their placement in the word.
